The Winter Soulstice Retreat: Eastern Orthodox Christian Spirituality with Dr. V. Bruce Rigdon Distinguished scholar, Church historian, authority on Eastern Orthodoxy retreat is sponsored by The North Carolina Academy for Spiritual Formation.
The Greek and Russian Orthodox churches whose roots extend back to the very beginnings of Christian history have much to teach us about how the Christian faith has evolved through the centuries. During this retreat, Dr. Rigdon will help us to experience the Jesus prayer, look at the way Easter is celebrated, from learning to “read” icons to singing Orthodox prayers, from comparing theological themes to looking at the ways that biblical stories are interpreted. All of these ways will help us to understand how many of our traditions were shaped.
