Second Cuba Mission Trip, April 30-May 8. Fr. Costa will be leading a team of 20 individuals including 4 priests for the second Cuba Mission Trip. Most of the team has now been chosen, but there is room for more. They will participate in the First of May parade in Havana with the Saint Nicholas parish of Havana. They will also play baseball, USA vs. Cuba! The team will then split into three teams: one team will stay in Havana to assist with preparing the new and first Orthodox monastery in Cuba to receive monks and train priests, another will travel to Ranchuelo to the Saint George the New Martyr parish to assist with building/painting/cleaning the church building, and the third team will travel to Holguin in Guantanamo to visit the Orthodox parish of Saint Paraskevi. Orthodox Choir of Detroit to benefit Zoe for Life! The Orthodox Choir of Detroit has brought an essential aspect of our Faith to southeastern lower Michigan with its beautiful music.  The ensemble has existed in various forms for several decades, and is composed of singers of mixed voice (SATB) from parishes across the city.  The “Lenten Choir” is a more loosely organized group that gathers to give responses at the annual Sunday Lenten Vespers services.  The choir also rehearses on a more intense level to prepare for concerts and other special events as needed.  The English language repertoire includes composers of many national backgrounds and jurisdictions, from the traditional Byzantine and ancient melodies, to modern-day American composers.  (Matushka) Victoria Kopistiansky is the musical director and Elizabeth Star serves as the choir’s representative liaison to the COCC. Orthodox Pilgrimage to Italy @ Italy, varied cities
Our pilgrimage will include visits to Padua, Venice, Ravenna, Rome, Naples, Pompeii and Bari. The focus of our pilgrimage is on the veneration and worship of the holy sites that were sanctified by the lives of the Saints of the Ancient Church that are holy as the treasury places of numerous relics and miraculous icons. We, also, will see the splendid remains of the Byzantine Civilization and will visit a number of major Ancient ruins in order to understand the true triumph of the Ancient Church over the glory and splendor of Ancient Rome. Our special pilgrimage will begin from the worship in front of the Holy Burial Shroud of our Lord in Turin and will culminate with a Liturgy at the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, on the very day of the Feast of translation of the relics from Myra in Lycia to Bari. Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, Vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, will lead a pilgrimage to the Holy Land on the Paschal days leading up to the feast of the Ascension. In addition to participation in divine services at the Holy Sepulcher of the Lord and in Bethlehem, the site of the Nativity of Christ, the group will visit holy sites in Jerusalem, Palestine, Galilee, the monasteries of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem and other places.

Other presentations will be offered by Harold M. Leich, Russian Area Specialist European Division, The Library of Congress, and Dr. Scott M. Orthodox Bishops Designate Prison Ministry Awareness Sunday: May 17
The Orthodox Church has dedicated the 6th Sunday of Pascha as the official day to recognize prison ministry in every Orthodox parish around the United States. In 2015, the date will be May 17. If you would like to be the prison ministry contact person for your church and become involved on this day, here are some easy steps. First, be sure to receive the blessings from your parish priest. Contact our office, and we will immediately send your parish a laminated icon of Christ the Prisoner to venerate on that day. Print out this bulletin insert to include in your bulletins on that day. Provide a letter for your priest to read to your parish on Prison Ministry Awareness Sunday. Courses in icon painting provide intensive instruction in the art and language of the icon from the perspective of Orthodox Church tradition using the ancient technique of egg-tempera and palette of gold, semi-precious stones and refined clays. Iconographers Anna Gouriev and Marek Czarnecki lead students through the entire process, from preparing a gesso board to completion of an icon, including instruction on how to create pigments from natural clays and minerals, define the image with assiste gold lights, gild prescribed areas, calligraph inscriptions, and apply olifa varnishes. Ethiopia Mission Experience Trip
Overview: “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11) Blessed with the Presence and Leadership of His Grace Bishop Youssef.  Due to limited transportation to and from the airport, all attendees must arrive and depart at set times (TBD).
