Tiffany Icon Windows Exhibit: Clinton, MA
Jul 14 – Jul 31 all-day

“In Company with Angels: Seven Rediscovered Tiffany Windows”

Angels Representing Seven Churches,” the central element of this exhibit, are a set of free-standing, eight-foot tall, windows created by Louis Comfort Tiffany in 1902 at Tiffany Studios in New York City. Originally commissioned for a church in Cincinnati, the seven windows depict angels which are almost life-size, illustrating passages from the Bible’s Book of Revelation. Although they form a set, each angel, named according to their Biblical reference, has different characteristics—and their own personality—depicted in glass through the artistry of Tiffany Studio.  On view July 14 through October 16, 2016

The Museum of Russian Icons has the honor of hosting the renowned Prosopon School of Iconology for an intensive six-day course on icon writing. Under the guidance of Vladislav Andrejev, students will study the techniques of painting icons, including transferring the image, applying gold leaf, mixing pigments, using the “floating” egg tempera technique, and lettering in the traditional style. Students will use natural materials and the traditional multi-step process to paint their own icons of Archangel Michael. Previous students can make special arrangements with the instructor to paint another subject for their icon workshop. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to iconology, iconic symbolism, and the theological and philosophical basis of each step. No previous artistic experience is required.

Project Mexico Home-building
Aug 10 – Aug 16 all-day

Day 1: The Foundation The group leaves the orphanage property excited for their first day on-site. Once they arrive at the site, they begin with a prayer. From there, the cement floor is mixed by hand in tubs. Volunteers screed, tamp and float the concrete throughout the day. Anchor bolts are also set within the foundation to mount and attach the walls. At the end of the day, they all go home tired and dirty!

Since 1988, Project Mexico & St. Innocent Orphanage has been building secure, safe and weather-tight homes for some of the most impoverished families in northern Mexico. Built strictly by volunteer labor, these homes provide families economic security and hope for a brighter future. While serving these families, the volunteers discover that they have been transformed. Through their service to others, they realize that they have received much more than they had given. To date, we have hosted well over 11,000 volunteers on our 16 acre ranch as we continue to humbly bear the burdens of others in the name of Christ.

Week of August 19-25 also has available slots.
