With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America I would like to cordially invite you to attend a Christmas concert entitled, Glory in the Highest, featuring the Archdiocesan Byzantine and Youth Choirs at Carnegie Hall on December 16, 2012, beginning at 6PM. The concert will be for the benefit the ancient church of the Holy Archangels in the Holy Metropolis of Proussa.
The church of the Holy Archangels, or as it is known in Greek, Taxiarches, was built in the 8th century. This is an important church because it is among the oldest ones still standing in this eparchy. During the exchange of populations at the turn of the 20th century and in accordance with the Treaty of Lausanne, this church was confiscated by the Turkish government. Now, almost 100 years later, our beloved Ecumenical Patriarchate is in a position to purchase this ancient church back and reopen its doors for all of her faithful. By supporting this concert you will help in this sacred effort.
The concert program will feature a selection of ecclesiastical hymns from the Christmas period performed by the Archdiocesan Byzantine Choir. The Archdiocesan Youth Choir will perform a number of songs and Greek traditional Kalanda to usher in the Christmas season. This is the second time the Archdiocesan choirs are sharing a stage at Carnegie Hall and just as the first time, it will surely be a night to remember. We wholeheartedly invite you to join us for an unforgettable evening of glorious Christmas music for a most noble cause.
Wishing you every blessing during this Christmas season and the protection of the Holy Archangels upon you and your loved ones, I remain
With deepest respect,
Archdeacon Panteleimon Papadopoulos
Director, Archdiocesan School of Byzantine MusicCategories: Concert -

The theme of this year’s winter retreat is: “KEEPING IT REAL”
This year we are trying something new. Location of the winter youth retreat, as most of you already know, is going to be at the Serbian Monastery in New Carlisle Indiana – an hour and a half drive from Chicago. We have arranged a bus to pick up and return all those from the Chicago area, as well as those arriving to Chicago. Please also know, there may be a change of location if the number of participants is overwhelming. For now, take a look at the pictures from the Monastery mentioned. It will be a place you will never forget. We will have more details after December 1.
Those who are high school Graduates may participate but as helpers – call Fr. Dragan immediately if you’re interested 317-374-3414. Please know, we can only accept so many of the youth, as well as the helpers – please respond as soon as possible to somewhat guarantee your place in this retreat. First come first serve. Thanks for your understanding. The registration fee this year will be $98 a person – since we are adding a day to the retreat. The retreat will be similar to last year – we are adding a few new things and praying for snow.

Theme: “Why Become (or Remain) Orthodox? How Do We Stand Up for & Live the Faith?”
This December, we will host our Eighth Annual Winter Service Retreat for Older Teens and Young Adults. Each year, we schedule this during the week after Nativity, when students are out of school for their winter break in studies. Our parish of St. George Orthodox Church (OCA) is located right on the Texas border with Mexico. In year’s past, the week included a visit and work project in an orphanage for girls just across the border in Mexico. However, because of increased border violence in recent years, we no longer cross into Mexico. Thanks be to God, this year, we will have a Brand New Church Hall to help accommodate both our Retreat Participants and our Service Projects!
Who: Geared for Older Teens, College Students & Young Adults plus Adult Chaperones & Orthodox Clergy. Orthodox Christians, Catechumins, Inquirers and their Friends from All Jurisdictions are WELCOME

The Coptic Orthodox Diocese of the Southern United States under the auspice of His Grace Bishop Youssef presents: The “Three Holy Youth” (THY) Winter College Convention series!
The pursuit of this fellowship is to enflame in the hearts of our college youth the roots of our rich Coptic faith, history and dogma. Teaching the fundamentals of our Orthodox Christian faith through a theological mini-series enables us to be “…always ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you…” (1 Peter 3:15).
Three Holy Youth is proud to present: “Orthodox DNA”. “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7)
Guest Speaker: Father Peter Saad, St. Peter and St. Paul Coptic Orthodox Church Montreal, Canada
More information can be found at www.facebook.com/threeholyyouth
College years can be a period of strong spiritual growth. Our beloved Church recognizes the strong pillars for our faith in our youth serving as bright shining stars to a world yearning for the hope that is presented in Christianity.
But our shining light is only as strong as our spiritual foundation and this can only start by increasing first in knowledge and virtue as St. Peter says “…But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:5-8)
