Feasts: Earthly Celebrations of Heavenly Events. Icons from the Museum Collection, Curated by intern Katia Christakis. This new exhibition showcases 30+ rare icons depicting significant feast days on the Russian Orthodox calendar commemorating the annual cycle of holy days, the veneration of saints and the Church’s twelve major feast days. Iconographer: Arlene Tilghman. This workshop is forIintermediate & Advanced Levels only. What is the All Saints Icon Academy? All Saints parish has a number of active iconographers with a reverence and desire for this ministry within the Church. The first expression of this has been the beautiful icons produced in quiet and used “for the glory, joy and adornment of Thy Holy Church.” A second fruit of this love for iconography has been the desire to see it grow. As such, the parish sponsors an annual Iconography Workshop held in Rockford, Illinois. Our master iconographer teaches both the techniques and theology of iconography in an Orthodox atmosphere. “Educate the adults and you won’t need church schools!” In Christian education circles, we have spoken of the need to educate adults for years with phrases like, “Christian education doesn’t end with church school,” “Total Parish Education,” and most notably the name of our yearly event, “The Orthodox Institute for Continuing Education in the Faith.” Converts from fundamental churches are pleased to find that Orthodoxy offers a treasure chest of resources for growth in the faith, from the church mothers and fathers, to icons, to hymnography.
