Source: Orthodox Christian Laity The Assembly of Bishops has been meeting for six years.  June 2015 is a critical month and time period in their efforts to develop a plan to make the administrative life of the Orthodox Church in the United States canonical.  Orthodox ecclesiology dictates that the Church be organized in geographic areas with one bishop in one city.  Overlapping jurisdictions weaken the Commandment of Christ to make disciples of All Nations.  Bishops are not foreign agents.  Governments of other countries have no place in directing the actions of Bishops in the USA.  We need a single Synod…

Source: Orthodox Christian Laity Dear Brothers and Sisters, It is with a sense of shock that I must relay to you that our devoted Orthodox Christian Laity board member Evan Alevizatos Chriss fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday Morning, April 28, 2015, while he was exercising in the gym of his residence.  Evan was active until the last moments of his life.  He was frail in body these past years, but he did all he could to keep his body, mind and soul together.  The Lord took him in the way we all remember Evan – actively perusing perfection. …

Source: Orthodox Christian Laity For many years, the Orthodox Christian Laity (OCL) Board has been blessed to have Father Thomas Hopko, of blessed memory, serve as an advisory board member.  We have been enriched by his prayers and council. He never hesitated to express his views.  He provided the organization with a perspective that was strong, clear and related to his convictions and integrity.   From all that is being written at this time of his falling asleep in the Lord, we are overwhelmed by his service to the Orthodox Faith in the United States as pastor and teacher.   He was…

Source: Orthodox Christian Laity “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in Unity.” Psalm 133:1 What a joy it is to hold our OCL meeting at the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC), a truly pan-Orthodox outreach mission to the world.  The agency has had its struggles and triumphs, but working together in unity, they make a difference for Christian outreach.  Together with IOCC, they are examples of what we accomplish in unity.  Can you imagine if the Orthodox Christian Church in the USA was united –  what we can accomplish?  A unified Orthodox Christian Church would be…

Source: Orthodox Christian Laity Sunday of Orthodoxy, March 1, 2015  “… move beyond words to actions… putting our theology into practice… moving beyond what is mine and yours, to what is ours.” This important message was conveyed by His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops at their fifth official meeting which was held in Dallas, Texas on September 15-19, 2014.  Unfortunately, the various proposals that were presented by the bishops defer the establishment of an autocephalous Orthodox Christian Church in the United States of America for at least another ten years. The Orthodox Christian Laity…
