The 52nd Assembly of the Diocese of the Midwest will be held at Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church in Lansing, IL, one of Chicago’s southern suburbs.

On Monday, October 7, the Bishop’s Council will meet at noon, while the Diocesan Council will hold a dinner meeting at 5:00 p.m. Delegate registration also beings at 5:00 p.m. and will run through 9:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, October 8, the Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. followed by breakfast. The registration desk will reopen at 9:15 a.m., while the first plenary session is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. The second plenary session will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will conclude with closing prayers and the installation of officers and elected Diocesan and Metropolitan Council members at 5:00 p.m.

All services and sessions on Tuesday will be held at the church, which was chosen because of its ample facilities and proximity to Chicago’s Midway International Airport.

It is recommended that, to the extent possible, delegates arrive on Monday evening. Return flights should be scheduled for no earlier than 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Three hotel options will be available, each offering special rates.

In both instances, the code “Diocese of the Midwest” should be used to obtain the special rate. Registration deadline for these venues is September 9.

A third venue — the Holiday Inn Express — is offering a rate of $141.00 plus tax per night. Reservations may be made by calling 708-418-1188. To obtain this rate, use the code “Diocese Special gathering.” Registration deadline is September 16.
