On August 31, the St. Vladimir’s Seminary community will mark the ecclesiastical new year by gathering for a free, public lecture offered by Dr. Elizabeth Theokritoff.  A scholar and translator, Dr. Theokritoff has authored a 2009 SVS Press book in the “Foundations” series, Living in God’s Creation: Orthodox Perspectives on Ecology. The talk is sponsored by the student-led St. Herman’s Society for Orthodox Ecology, and will be held on campus.

Dr. Elizabeth Theokritoff completed a doctoral thesis in liturgical theology at Oxford under the supervision of  The Most Rev. Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware) of Diokleia, and subsequently served for seven years as Secretary of the Anglican-Orthodox Fellowship of St. Alban and St. Sergius in London. A translator of theological works from modern Greek, Dr. Theokritoff serves on the faculty of  The Distance Learning Master’s Degree Program in Ecumenical Studies (DLPES) at the Institute of Ecumenical Studies. Co-editor of the Cambridge Companion to Orthodox Christian Theology and author of numerous articles.  Dr. Theokritoff has also lectured at the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies in Cambridge, UK.
