Protopresbyter John Artemas will speak on the subject of Orthodox sainthood and modern American saints. Father Artemas served as priest at a number of parishes in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America for 51 years. He retired in 2016 from his last parish, St. George Greek Orthodox Church, De Kalb, Ill., and moved to the Detroit area to be closer to family. Father Artemas received the honor of Economos from the late Archbishop Iakovos in 1982 while serving in Buffalo, N.Y. and the honor of Protopresbyter from the late Bishop Timothy of Detroit in 1992 while serving in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The presentation is sponsored by Orthodox Christian Women of Michigan (OCW). It is open to all members of the public. Refreshments will be served.
