Appalachia, Summer Missions TripIn conjunction with the Consistory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA (Office of Christian Charity), St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Charlottesville (Greenwood), VA is pleased to announce plans for the second annual summer mission trip to serve our friends and neighbors in Buchanan County, VA. Participants will work on housing construction and renovation efforts locally, under the direction of Buchanan Neighbors United and in support of other local ministries who serve people in need in the region. The visit will allow participants to meet and assist the residents of this region who have been especially afflicted by severe cutbacks in the coal industry – the foundation of the local economy.

The minimum age is 21 years old, and while there is no maximum age, the obvious need is for people participating to be able-bodied for the type of work involved. People with construction skills are especially encouraged to apply. The group will be limited to 15 participants and the deadline for applications is Wednesday, May 22nd.
