Orthodox Pilgrimage to Constantinople & Italy

August 18, 2013 – September 1, 2013 all-day

CONSTANTINOPLE: Our Pilgrimage will take us to Constantinople, the heart of Orthodoxy. Visit the 17th century Greek Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarchate. Pray at the St George Cathedral and venerate the Holy Relics of Saints St. Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom. Participate in a private audience with His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew (subject to his availability). Visit the most important sites for the Greek Orthodox in Constantinople: Agia Sophia, the Church of the Holy Savior of Chora, Baloukli Monastery and its Underground Shrine of Zoodochos Peghe, Topkapi Palace housing the relics of St. John the Baptist and Panagia Blacherna were the beautiful hymn, “Te Ypermacho” was chanted over 1,400 years ago and the Grand Bazaar. Private cruise and buggy ride to Halki and visit the Theological school and have lunch by the pier.

ITALY: Our visit will take us to the mystical city of Venice. See St. Mark’s Square and the Basilica, Rialto Bridge, Bridge of Sighs and Doge’s Palace. Also visit the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and the Icon Museum. Explore Ravenna and the spectacular Duomo and Baptistery in Florence en route to the ancient city of Rome. Our visit to the Eternal city includes the Vatican, St Peter’s Basilica, the Scavi (subject to approval), Colosseum, St. John in Laternan Cathedral and the Holy Stairs, Santa Croce in Jerusalem, San Pietro in Chains, Santa Prassede, Santa Maria Maggiore and St. Paul outside the Walls, St. Teodoro, Catacombs, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and much more….Continue on to Bari to visit the Basilica of San Nicola to venerate his relics and visit the uncovered city of Pompeii.
