Source: St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary Christ is in our midst! Right now, an “Orthodox moment” is happening around the world, and we can’t afford to let this opportunity escape us. Seekers are flocking to Orthodox Churches, and our alumni in North America and abroad are reporting record numbers of catechumens and baptisms in their communities, in spite of the ongoing pandemic. We need well-trained priests and lay leaders to guide this influx of seekers home and minister to the newly illumined in a darkened world. And your generosity is making it possible. Donate Now Father Christopher Moore was a student…

Source: St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary Hurricane Ida brought torrential rain Wednesday evening to the New York metropolitan area on the heels of a tornado warning and fierce winds, and the deluge that followed caused severe flooding unlike anything in recent memory. The campus of St. Vladimir’s Seminary wasn’t spared the storm’s wrath. The waterfall on the north side overflowed into the front lawn, ripping up pavement, trees, the community garden, the rock wall, and the fence. Troublesome Creek lived up to its name—both bridges over the Creek were uprooted and carried downstream. Meyendorff Hall sustained some roof damage, and floodwaters…

Source: St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary has begun its year of honoring the legacy of former dean and renowned theologian Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann (1921-1983). The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of Fr. Alexander’s birth. The “Year of Schmemann” celebrations kicked off Tuesday, January 26, 2021 with the release of an unearthed recording of Schmemann. His words, captured decades ago—on a recording which recently came into the Seminary’s possession—are anything but dated. They are further proof that Fr. Alexander remains “A Voice for Our Time.” Discern the Spirits: Words from Alexander Schmemann from St Vladimir’s Seminary on Vimeo. Celebrations continue Saturday, January 30, 2021 with The 38th Annual…

Source: St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary The day after I recently shared a link on our social media pages about a wonderful resource I didn’t want people to forget about, we received this touching message in an email: “I am overcome with emotion this morning as I listen to Father Alexander [Schmemann]’s lectures in liturgical theology. What an amazing gift you all have provided the world…and me. I have been desperate to hear his lectures, lamenting the fact that he died (memory eternal) three years before I was born. I truly cannot tell you how blessed and grateful I am for this…
