Clifton, NJ (May 6, 2022) — Four North Jersey Orthodox Christian churches are co-hosting an evening of food, wine, and fellowship for a good cause, with proceeds going to the humanitarian relief organization International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).
After two years of virtual events, A Taste of North Jersey is once again being held in person on Saturday, May 21 at Assumption of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church (35 Orange Avenue, Clifton, NJ).
The evening will begin with the celebration of Great Vespers at 6 PM, followed at 7 PM by hors d’oeuvres featuring some of the area’s finest food, wine, and beer. Maywood’s Marketplace will provide food, with other local establishments supplying desserts. The Nat Janoff Group will perform jazz favorites.
The food and wine tasting, now more than 10 years old, is organized by a multicultural fellowship of Orthodox Christian parishes from across North Jersey. The event was first held in 2009 and hosted by St. Anthony Orthodox Church in Bergenfield, the first pan-Orthodox parish in the North American Antiochian Archdiocese. Each year its proceeds are donated to support the humanitarian and development work of IOCC.
Established in 1992, IOCC serves people in need worldwide through emergency relief, water, food security, health, and other humanitarian programs. The agency has worked in more than 60 countries through the years and is actively responding to the crisis in Ukraine, as well as running ongoing programs in Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.
Tickets for A Taste of North Jersey are $50.00 in advance ($45.00 for guests ages 65 and up). Tickets at the door will be $65.00. To purchase tickets in advance, please visit iocc.org/northjersey.odoxdal
