BOSTON – The treasurer of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Elaine Allen, who has assumed multiple responsibilities at the Archdiocese and reportedly offers her services voluntarily,  without compensation, has, according to information obtained by The National Herald, also undertaken the task of addressing financial and administrative matters at Hellenic College – Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA.

Allen was present at the School from Tuesday, January 21, 2025 to Friday, January 24. During her time there, she met with the School’s president, Dr. Demetrios Katos, as well as with officials from various departments, conducting audits of the School’s financial and administrative operations. She was also seen visiting different buildings, conducting inspections, and observing their functionality.

The National Herald in its effort to inform the Greek-American Community and the broader Church in America that supports the School, sent questions to President Katos, requesting a response by Friday, January 24, 2025 about Allen’s role at the School.

Since the deadline passed without a response from Katos, a reminder was sent to him. As of the time of this writing, Tuesday afternoon, January 28, 2025, Katos has not responded to The National Herald’s inquiries.

Below, we publish the questions submitted to Katos regarding Elaine Allen’s presence and audits at the School.

1)   Under which capacity is Elaine Allen undertaking this checking – these examinations?

2)   Did you and the Trustees give her permission to be involved in the financial and administrative affairs of the School?

3)   Can you tell us what exactly is she looking for?

4)   Doesn’t the School have its own President, Trustees and officials who are responsible for its finances and personnel? What is she doing there?

5)   Would you make her findings available to the Press and The Greek-American Community?

6)   Will the School be under her financial and administrative supervision?
