Orthodox Christian Laity (OCL) calls upon the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) during this most difficult period to be transparent about the reasons for the resignation of Metropolitan Jonah. We call upon the Synod and the Metropolitan Council to be open and transparent in all matters relating to Church Governance in order to retain the confidence of the people whose support they must have in order for the Church to grow and serve the needs of the faithful.

SYOSSET, NY In her report for the first quarter of 2012, Melanie Ringa, Treasurer of the Orthodox Church in America, notes that “operating results show a small surplus versus a budgeted deficit of $27,401.00.” It was also noted that an unrestricted bequest of $188,905.00 from the estate of Charles F. Morse had been received. Source: Orthodox Church in America Just two months after “Project Buffalo” — a ministry initiated by the Diocese of New York and New Jersey aimed at revitalizing Saints Peter and Paul parish here — thieves stripped $6,000.00 worth of copper from the parish church and made off with an antique, silver-plated Gospel book during the night of Friday, November 11, 2011. After stripping both copper and lead from the church, the thieves broke into the church, apparently through a basement window.
