The annual meeting of OTSA brings together many of the leading Orthodox scholars in America for presentations of papers, for discussion, and for the yearly Florovsky Lecture. Most of the activities are open to the public, including the presentations and the Florovsky Lecture, but business meetings are also conducted and are restricted to members of OTSA.

With the blessings of Metropolitan Joseph of the Antiochian Archdiocese of North America, and The Right Rev. Bishop Antoun, Diocese of Miami and the Southeast, The Rev. Fouad Saba and St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral in Coral Gables, FL are hosting the Hierarchs and Board of Trustees meetings.  The historic meetings will be the first ones in which Metropolitan Joseph presides for both the Board of Trustees fall meetings, as well as the gathering of the bishops. On Saturday evening, a banquet will be held honoring the newly selected Metropolitan, and offering tribute to His Eminence Metropolitan Philip of Blessed Memory. A Sunday Hierarchical Liturgy will be followed by “The Stewards Luncheon,” with the Board of Trustees as guests of honor. Call for Papers: The Sophia Institute Sixth Annual Conference
The Sophia Institute will be holding its sixth annual conference, focusing on the tremendous need for healing in the contemporary world, which “has never been more in need of a healthy facility of mutual forgiveness.” The conference will highlight and discuss the spiritual resources that the Orthodox Church has to offer to a broken and violent world. Papers are being accepted from August 2014  for this conference and should “address the conference theme from historical, patristic, theological, ethical, ethnographic, philosophical, cultural or literary angles.” Titles and abstracts for the papers may be submitted to the Very Rev. Source: St. Phoebe Center for the History of the Deaconess St. Phoebe Center for the History of the Deaconess will host its first conference titled Women & Diaconal Ministry in the Orthodox Church: Past, Present & Future on Saturday, December 6, 2014  from 9 am to 5 pm at Union Theological Seminary  in Manhattan. The conference will provide presentations and discussions on why an ordained ministry is necessary; how a deaconess would/could serve today; and what short-term and long-term steps could be taken for restoration of the female diaconate. Speakers from various areas of social outreach will discuss diaconal work in the present such as pastoral care, ministry of the Word, and chaplaincy. The International Conference on Patristic Studies in Oxford is a four-yearly gathering of scholars from around the world that has become a major event for the many disciplines concerned with patristics. The proceedings of the conferences are peer reviewed and published in the series  Studia Patristica. Abstracts and proposals for the seventeenth conference are being accepted from August 2014, with a submission deadline of December 31st, 2014.
