His Eminence, Archbishop Nathaniel of Detroit and the Romanian Episcopate, Locum Tenens, will chair the fall session of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America here October 9-11, 2012.
According to Archpriest Eric G. Tosi, OCA Secretary, the members of the Holy Synod will consider a number of current issues and review plans for the 17th All-American Council, slated to convene at Holy Trinity Church, Parma, OH on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
Protodeacon Peter Danilchick will build upon the discussion he facilitated at the recent meeting of the Metropolitan Council—see related article—focusing on priorities for the Church, organizational concerns, and a vision for the future work of the Church. In closed session, the hierarchs will consider a number of current matters.
Archpriest John Jillions, OCA Chancellor, will discuss the work of the Chancery and the office of Review of Sexual Misconduct and address other issues that arose at the recent Metropolitan Council meeting. Melanie Ringa, OCA Treasurer, will review 2012 finances and present the 2013 budget for approval, while Archpriest Leonid Kishkovsky will discuss matters related to external affairs. His Grace, Bishop Mark of Baltimore, will report on his work with the OCA’s departments and commissions and present an overview of ongoing concerns.
Father Eric also will present an update on the 17th All-American Council and report on Chancery operations and communications.
A number of other matters dealing with clergy and diocesan issues will be reviewed, and a session during which plans and priorities for 2013 will be discussed will also be held.
On Monday evening, October 8, the Board of Theological Education will meet.
