On June 16, 2015 the Executive Committee of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States will travel to Istanbul in order to meet with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who will receive them at the Phanar. Fr. Nathaniel has done an admiral job of answering the questions put to him on this Ancient Faith interview.

I understand why two key questions were not asked. And why he could not have answered them if they had been asked.
      The questions are:

      (1) “Why, after more than five years, has the Assembly not agreed on a plan, required by the Chambesy documents, to bring the Church in the territory of the United States into canonical order?” and

      (2) “Isn’t the establishment of a single, autocephalous Church, a local Church under a single Synod of Bishops in the territory of the United States, with no more than one bishop in any City (Diocese/Metropolis) the only way to bring the Orthodox Church in the United States into ‘canonical’ order?”

Hopefully those are the questions that Patriarch Bartholomew intends to ask of the bishops he has invited to the Phanar on June 15th for an update on their “progress”.
