Memory Eternal as we remember Laura Mead Jones on her 40 Day Memorial.

“Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted…”.

Laura was a member of the board of Orthodox Christian Laity (OCL) for a number of years in the mid 1990’s.

I was on her extensive mailing list and received many of her letters to religious, political, cultural leaders until her death. OCL Board members remember her fondly. We were so happy to hear from her on May 1 when she informed me she was coming to our 25th Anniversary Meeting in Washington DC. I smiled, and was looking forward to seeing her; because I knew that she would be a breath of fresh air in our midst. I received her autobiographical note of June 28, 2012 which was quite informative. She sent me a birthday greeting on September 17. I was saddened to learn of her stroke and death before our meeting. May she rest in peace. May her memory be eternal. Laura was truly pure in heart. This state of being kept her young in heart. Her life was a quest for becoming one with the True Light. She kept up her search until the end. She had a colorful life. May her family and grandchildren and the rest of us live long lives to remember Laura. As we near her 40 day Memorial Service, we continue to pray for our departed sister with the assurance that she loved the Lord.
