Source: Orthodox Church in America RIVERDALE, NY [OCA] – Matushka Juliana Schmemann, 93, wife of the late Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann, lifelong educator in New York girls’ schools and former headmistress of the Spence School, fell asleep in the Lord at the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, where she had been in residence since the fall of 2016, on Sunday evening, January 29, 2017. Matushka Juliana was born to a family of White Russian émigrés and was raised and educated in France.
