John Ketchum, priest of the Annunciation Church in Milwaukee, WI, excommunicated Parish Council Treasurer Patricia Galanis at the beginning of Holy Week, on April 8, the Saturday of Lazarus, for reasons, he said, of “disobedience to the Ecclesiastical Authority, the priest of the parish.” Galanis is the wife of former AHEPA Supreme President John Galanis. Source: Orthodox Church in America OCA Treasurer’s report for first three quarters of 2015 released SYOSSET, NY [OCA] The financial report for the OCA’s the first three quarters of 2015, prepared by Ms. Melanie Ringa, Treasurer of the Orthodox Church in America, has been released and is now available on-line. “Year to date, through September 30, 2015, expenses were under budget by $107,054.00,” Ms. Ringa noted.  “Total revenues for the same period were under budget by only $18,856.00, representing slightly lower assessments and lower Chapel and Continuing Ed revenues.” Download Complete Report [subscribe2]

In her introductory notes, Ms. Ringa noted that “the operating budget that was passed last fall was a deficit budget,” adding that “several additional expenses were added at the spring Metropolitan Council meeting held in February [2013].” While the budgeted operating deficit for Q1-2013 was $87,034.00, the actual deficit was $151,608.00.
