According to the family, the 52 years old Greek Orthodox Christian carpenter was killed when during an Israel Air Force strike on a high-rise building, in which Ramez Harb, a senior figure in Islamic Jihad’s military wing, was killed. Sweliem was in a car when the strike took place and he died on his way to the hospital from shrapnel wounds.

This is truly a tragedy for the family of this innocent victim of Hamas terrorists, who use their neighborhoods to shield their missile launching activities against civilian targets in Israel. This posting appears to place the “blame” for this tragedy on the “Israeli Air Force”. It also notes that a senior figure in Islamic Jihad’s military wing was the intended target, who was killed in the raid. What it leaves unsaid is that the raid was in retaliation for the thousands of rockets launched from Gaza into Israel, and that Israel has the right of self-defense. The post raises the question of what a peace-loving, law-abiding Christian, living in Hamas controlled Gaza can hope to accomplish in stopping Hamas from continuing its terrorism against Israel. If the post is meant to de-legitimize Israel’s right to exist in peace and security with its neighbors, it misses the mark. If it is meant to mourn the loss of an innocent life, it should be accompanied by a photo of an Israeli family mourning the loss of one of its innocent civilians killed by a Hamas rocket.
The Zionists sponsored Hamas as an alternative to the PLO. Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.
There are no shortage of innocent Palestinians to mourn. Hasn’t been since 1948, and before.
